Most importantly though - don’t give up!! Stay at it! Keep writing!! When you decide to upgrade, you can go swap out the plug-ins and - BAM! It’s an entirely new piece.

It’s certainly easier to start off with a great library collection - but a large deal of issues can be corrected by using proper production techniques. Experiment with beefing up the mids and adding a little on the highs… A good reverb and proper panning are ESSENTIAL. On a quick-fix note: Try different mastering techniques. They ask “What’s missing?” “What’s not working well?” “How can we get more realism?” Modern companies are filling in the holes where others leave off… One library I use deep-sampled the HECK out of the violin section… Frankly, it’s insane… but they’re setting out to IMPROVE on others’ older libraries. Layering is a GREAT tool to add depth and create a hybrid sound of two different libraries. I DO think that VSL could be used to layer underneath other products… so your collection is not completely obsolete. In the ever-evolving quest for sample libraries to develop a convincing ‘orchestra’, new things are sounding better - which makes older things sound… old. Even (some) of the orchestration instructors at Berklee College of Music use VSL (while EWQL products are ‘required’ for the courses)… My own personal opinion is the indeed, VSL just sounds flat to me. Definitely won't buy any more sounds from them if I can't get this lag dealt with lol end rant. It’s funny you ask… VSL (for a long while) was THE sample orchestra in town… While I’ve never purchased their products because of the astronomical pricing, I’ve done my research. I'm left scratching my head and wondering why I bought these plugins.
VIENNA SYMPHONIC LIBRARY NO SOUND SET SOFTWARE
What do you guys think? Is there any work-around? I just can't understand how such expensive software allows there to be such lag when working in one of the most popular industry-standard DAWs out there. I know from experience that setting the buffer this low is almost impossible in any sort of multitrack session without causing recordings to drop out, random CPU errors, etc etc.īut I'll try it anyways and let you guys know what happens. I ought to mention I'm using a FireWire Lynx Aurora 8 as an interface. His screenshot suggest to set the HW Buffer size in PT12 to 256. You can experiment with this setting and set it as low as possible before you're getting drop outs or digital artefacts."

=> No - the latency is introduced by the H/W Buffer Size of your audio interfaces driver (please see second screenshot).

">Is there a way to get zero-latency playing and recording in Pro Tools? So far I've NOT been using Vienna Ensemble, maybe there is a way to use that as a plugin to trigger the sounds with zero latency? I am very new to this software. Is there a way to get zero-latency playing and recording in Pro Tools? Maybe I should be recording audio samples instead of MIDI? Maybe I shouldn't be using the Synchron player plugin directly in Pro Tools? But if I mute the track to get rid of the latency, then there is NO sound from the plugins. The problem with this is that there is latency, an annoying lag, when I'm playing/recording. I have to make the track record-enabled in order to hear any sound. Me: "when I use Smart Orchestra or Special Edition 1 in Pro Tools, I run a Synchron player plugin directly on an instrument track. what do you guys think about this? Is there another way to trigger the VSL plugin to get less latency? I wrote to VSL tech support about it, copy/pasted the convo below.

Hi guys I'm getting annoying latency using VSL orchestral instruments within Pro Tools 12.
